As Bill Schmalfeldt is seeming to gear up for LULZ Suit VI as I schedule this post, I thought I would highlight one of his consistent behaviors – that of claiming that those of us who use a pseudonym are “cowards” or that we are “cowards” if we don’t do what he wants. This blast from the past is from his last “Goodbye Cruel World” podcast that I dissected a while ago HERE.
3:46 When I first got involved in blogging and expressing my opinion online, I thought the honorable way to approach it would be by using my actual name. My father instilled in all of his kids a pride in their name, and that if you believed something enough to say it out loud you’d better have the courage of your convictions to put your name on it. Well, back in the late 90s and early part of the 21st century there wasn’t this proliferation of trolls. These cowardly, puerile people who have nothing better to do with their lives than to sit and read your blog and tear you to pieces. They hide behind assumed names and believes that gives them the freedom to violate your freedom to express yourself. People know your real name, and they lack the morals to allow you to express your points unassaulted by attacks on your personal life, the very nature of the Internet makes that very, very easy. So much information can be found in publicly available places, and when people hate you there’s nothing to stop them.
See, it’s HONORABLE to put yourself out there, leaving yourself vulnerable to attacks from people who hate you. But just a bit later, Bill acknowledges the very reason why many of us choose to be anonymous FROM HIM. Because he has this nasty habit of going after you in all the places that a normal person would consider icky if you even so much as call him a “clown”. And many of us who follow along in his saga realized this before we even started posting. And as a result, WE ARE ANONYMOUS! Because of what we saw Bill do to people he thought were wrong. But he’s still going to call you a coward if you don’t want to put yourself out there for him to enact his brand of thuggery upon you. Which apparently includes Thermonuclear Lawfare, if his newest website has anything to say about it. And no, I’m not linking to it.
Here’s an example of the other way he wields the “coward” label, where he’s taunting the “cowards” because they won’t do what he wants – sue him.
Vox Day has something to say about this sort of tactic in a post called Just One Trick. You can find it at the link.
Progressives only have one good trick, and men keep falling for it.
They keep calling you a coward, so that you’ll do or say whatever they want to prove that you are not a coward.
This is what Bill Schmalfeldt does over and over and over again. Hoping and praying that someone will actually bite and do WHAT HE SAYS because if they don’t then they are just a coward.
I’m sorry, but who actually thinks that this is a logical argument? I have never understood why it is used as a tactic, as it keeps failing over and over and over again. Only people who want to placate those who use this tactic ever follow it. And then they find that it doesn’t work and their giving an inch soon becomes a mile.
Bill Schmalfeldt does not get to draw the lines for this little morality play that is going on here. Because when he does then he jumps all over you and stomps all over you and then thinks he gets to have more and more and more. Case in point – over at HOGEWASH!, WJJ Hoge has been documenting all of Bill Schmalfeldt’s recent attempts at getting him to admit something, and if he doesn’t admit that something, well, Bill’s just gonna *have* to sue him. Again. For someone else’s actions.
People just aren’t rolling over for Bill anymore. He doesn’t like it. Too bad.
Murum aries attigit, beyotch!
