At a certain point the Gamma grows hysterical, enters a rage phase, and will have murder fantasies like the above. In reality chubby Beck would do nothing of the sort but in his head he’s slaying the dragon while wearing his shiniest suit of armor.
Soon after the rage phase comes the down cycle and the Gamma will withdraw and console himself with lies about how he’s the better man, more honorable, has higher standards, and is the true victor by remaining true to his convictions. Never mind the fact that he’s lost whatever battle he was fighting and has retreated, in the Gamma’s head he is victorious.
If anyone cares to listen he’ll describe himself as the bravest of knights who would enter the dragon’s den and pierce the side of the dragon with his lance knowing it would lead to his own death. The martyrdom in his head is the last stop of the delusion.
….but most Gammas would suddenly disappear from wherever they acted so stupidly.

FTR – I happened to hear that part of the Beck radio show and he was talking to and about his friend and colleague, Stu.
I’m glad this came up so late in the series because it could have really undermined the author’s credibility if the author hadn’t already been proven to be so accurate wrt the self-titled

Yes, Beck was threatening Stu, who was busting his balls, which is pretty much his job. If you’re at all familiar with the show, you already know this. He threatens to fire him every other day and threatens physical harm once a week or so. It’s all in good fun.
If you’re a Trumpkin, Beck was calling for the assassination of the orange megalomaniac, because ridiculous tales work better for you than reality. Which makes me wonder how far Blob is from an endorsement.

I was prodded to write about myself once upon a time. I got tired of it after less than a year and stopped. I feel no need to write about myself anymore. It’s actually pretty exhausting talking about your every emotion. Didn’t work for me.

That bit about BK not being a murderer because DeLong was driven to suicide by his injuries reminds me of something Theodore Dalrymple wrote years ago. He was a doctor in the British penal system and was talking about convicts not just acting like they were innocent but really believing it too. He described a convicted murderer as believing he was truly innocent of a stabbing death because the doctors at the hospital were guilty of killing his victim because they “pulled out the knife”.

Blogger/author Peter Grant wrote a book called ‘Walls, Wire, Bars and Souls’ about his experiences in the U.S. prison system as a prison chaplain. He noted, in the book, that very few inmates actually accepted responsibility for their actions — invariably, it was ‘someone else’s fault’. It’s a common pattern.
